VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR COW MOUNTAIN CLEAN-UP

Outdoor recreation enthusiasts who want to help improve the South Cow Mountain Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area east of Ukiah are invited to join the Bureau of Land Management Ukiah Field Office on Saturday, Nov. 6, for a Clean-Up Day.

Volunteers are needed to help remove brush from trails, clean up trash and complete minor maintenance work.

Registration will be from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Red Mountain Campground. Work projects will go from 9 a.m. until about 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

Participants should bring a hat, work gloves, drinking water and sunscreen, and wear sturdy work boots and weather-appropriate work clothing. They should be prepared for inclement weather, steep terrain and thick vegetation. BLM will provide tools.

"We depend heavily on volunteers to help us get the on-the-ground work done," said Brad Colin, BLM outdoor recreation planner. "We are hoping that everyone who enjoys recreation at South Cow Mountain will come and help out."
