BLM Resource to Meet Three Days at Fort Hunter Liggett

The Bureau of Land Management's 12-person Central Resources Advisory Council (RAC) will meet the first day at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14 in the Hacienda at Fort Hunter Liggett, California. The public is invited to attend to discuss public land access issues and strategies associated with public land management.

On Friday morning, October 15, the meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a series of updates on management activities in the Bishop, Bakersfield, Folsom, and Hollister Field Offices, as well as the BLM California State Office in Sacramento. This will be followed by several presentations on planning issues in the Hollister Field Office, including a progress report on the development of a Resource Management Plan, discussion of a draft management plan for the California Coastal National Monument, and a draft plan amendment for the Clear Creek Management Area. A public comment period is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Saturday's schedule will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a discussion of RAC business and procedures. A field trip to Joaquin Rocks will depart the Hacienda at 9:00 a.m. The public is invited to attend the field trip, but will have to provide their own transportation.

The Resource Advisory Council is composed of 12 members who represent public land interests including livestock grazing, recreation, off-highway vehicle use, cultural interests, local government, environmental concerns, mining, and the public-at-large. The RAC advises BLM managers on the full scope of the agency's land and natural resource management mission.
