BLM PLANS PRESCRIBED FIRE PROJECTS IN DAY BENCH AREA

Fire crews from the Bureau of Land Management's Alturas Field Office this month will be burning piles of limbs and brush created during construction of fuel breaks in the Day Bench area northeast of McArthur.

Crews will ignite the fires only when weather conditions allow for safe and successful burning. Projects are expected to continue through early December. Smoke impacts are expected to be minimal.

For safety reasons, BLM officials asked area residents to stay out of the project areas when burning is underway.
