BLM LIFTS FIRE RESTRICTIONS ON LANDS MANAGED BY UKIAH AREA OFFICE

The Bureau of Land Management has announced that restrictions on outdoor use of fire have been lifted for BLM-managed public lands in Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt, Napa, Sonoma, Yolo, Glenn and Colusa counties. The restrictions have been in effect since early summer.
Easing of restrictions means that campfires can again be used outside of developed campgrounds. Campfire permits are required. Internal combustion engines can again be used off of established roads and trails, and smoking is no longer restricted to developed recreation sites and enclosed vehicles.
BLM Fire Management Officer James Dawson said that cool fall weather and rainfall have reduced fire dangers, but it is still important to use care with fire. He cautioned against using fires on windy days, and reminded campers to completely extinguish campfires before breaking camp.
Seasonal fire restrictions have also been lifted on other north state public lands and national forests. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection has also lifted burning restrictions.
