BLM's Bakersfield Field Office to hold annual Open House Dec. 6

The Bakersfield District of the Bureau of Land Management will hold its annual community Open House on Saturday, December 6, 2003 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 3801 Pegasus Drive in Bakersfield.

The open house is for people to learn about the BLM’s role in fire protection and prevention, land use management, geology and law enforcement.

The BLM encourages those interested in working as wildland firefighters to attend the Open House; personnel from engines, hand crews, helicopter crews and bulldozers will be there to answer questions.

Smokey Bear will be on scene and employees will serve free hotdogs, chips and soda. BLM employees will also display specialty equipment, including wildland fire engines, bulldozers and law enforcement vehicles.

During the Open House, job applicants may also acquire information on the spring semester Wildland Fire Technology class at Bakersfield College, as well as the wildland fire Hiring Fair, scheduled for March, 2004.
