RELEASE For Release: Sept. 24, 2002 Contact: Jeff Fontana (530) 252-5332 CA-N-03-97 AUTUMN BUS SHUTTLES PLANNED FOR BIZZ JOHNSON TRAIL Crisp autumn days are great times to
enjoy the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail, and
two upcoming bus shuttles will provide added convenience for outings. Lassen Rural Bus
and the Bureau of Land Management will offer the shuttles on Sunday, Oct. 6,
and Saturday, Oct. 18. The Oct. 6 shuttle departs the
Susanville Railroad Depot on Richmond Road at 8:30 a.m. The Oct. 18 shuttle, for the annual Fall
Colors Ride, will leave the Depot at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Riders should be there a half-hour early to
allow time for bicycle loading. The shuttle transports mountain
bikers, hikers and joggers from Susanville to Westwood. Various stops allow for return trips of
seven, 18 or 25 miles on the Bizz Johnson Trail. Using the bus eliminates the need for
arranging individual vehicle shuttles, said Stan Bales, a BLM outdoor
recreation planner. There is a small shuttle fee. Reservations can be made by contacting the
Susanville Railroad Depot Visitor Center at 252-3252. -BLM- Eagle Lake Field Office 2950 Riverside Drive Susanville, CA 96130 |
