BLM SCHEDULES OHV COURTESY COMPLIANCE CHECK

The fall off-highway vehicle (OHV) recreation season will soon be underway in northern California. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is offering free compliance checks on dirtbikes and all terrain vehicles from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 27 and Saturday, October 4 at the BLM Redding office, 355 Hemsted Drive.

The courtesy compliance checks will include inspection of mufflers, spark arresters, registrations, and noise levels.

Sky Zaffarano, BLM OHV coordinator, emphasizes the purpose of the inspections is to help the public comply with recent changes in the California vehicle code concerning the operation of OHV vehicles on public lands. No citations will be issued.

In addition, BLM staff and volunteers will be present to answer questions concerning OHV use on public lands and provide maps, brochures, and information on off-highway vehicle recreation areas.

Additional information on the event is available from the BLM office in Redding, CA 530-224-2100.
