BLM District Advisory Council to Meet in Ridgecrest

The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) California Desert District Advisory Council will meet in formal session on September 19 and 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kerr McGee Community Center, located at 100 West California Avenue in Ridgecrest, California.

The Friday agenda will include reports from council members and BLM managers, a film commission economic report and a briefing on Payment in Lieu of Taxes. The agenda will also include an update on the Surprise Canyon draft environmental impact statement, and a briefing on the proposed recreation fee demonstration project for the El Mirage Dry Lake Recreation Area, Dumont Dunes, Stoddard and Johnson Valley off-highway vehicle open areas.

Agenda items on Saturday will include a briefing and overview of the Bureau's Sustaining Working Landscapes (SWL) initiative, followed by a public comment period to gather comments regarding the SWL initiative.

All Desert District Advisory Council meetings are open to the public. Time for public comment may be made available by the council chairman during the presentation of various agenda items, and is scheduled at the end of the meeting for topics not on the agenda.
