Sacramento River Rail Trail will be closed for improvements

The Sacramento River Rail Trail between the Keswick Boat Launch and Shasta Dam will be closed from Thursday, Aug. 14 through Saturday, Aug. 30, for completion of trail improvements.

The Bureau of Land Management said crews will be grading the trail and applying a layer of gravel on the trail between Matheson Mine and the Motion Creek crossing. The improvements will improve conditions for mountain bikers, hikers and equestrians, and improve access for the disabled.

BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Bill Kuntz said the trail could reopen prior to Aug. 30, depending on how quickly the work crews can complete the work.
