BLM Advisory Group to Meet in Eastern Sierra

A citizen advisory group to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management will meet in the eastern Sierra next week.  The Resource Advisory Council for Central California will tour the Lone Pine Film Festival on Friday, October 11th, and meet in the Patio Room at the fairgrounds in Bishop on Saturday, October 12th.

The Friday tour to Lone Pine will begin after a visit to the BLM-Bishop Field Office.  In addition to the film festival, the council will also visit the Alabama Hills and the Interagency Visitor Center.  The agenda for Saturday=s meeting in Bishop will include an update on fire management issues, a discussion of the planning effort for the California Coastal National Monument, and a report by BLM Field Managers.

The meeting is open to the public.  Those wishing to go on the field trip must supply their own transportation.  There is an opportunity for public comment at 11:30 a.m. Saturday during which time any public land issue may be brought up to the council.  Comments may also be submitted in writing either at the meeting or at the BLM office in Bishop.

The 12 members of the council are appointed by the Secretary of the Interior to provide advice to the BLM on public land issues.  Members are from throughout central California, and include Mono County Supervisor Byng Hunt, and Walt Pachucki of Bishop who is the council chairman.
