5, 2002 Dunkelberger selected as new BLM Bishop field office managerBill Dunkelberger, currently the assistant district ranger for the Arapaho-Roosevelt National Forest in Colorado, is the new field office manager for the Bureau of Land Management Bishop office. ?We are pleased to bring a person with such diverse experience to the position,? said Mike Pool, state director for BLM in California. ?Bill Dunkelberger?s previous work with stakeholder groups and the public will lend itself well to the management of our Bishop resource area.? Dunkelberger began his career in 1979 as a forestry technician at the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest in the Washington state. He has worked as a seasonal fire crew supervisor, wilderness ranger, and recreation crew supervisor. He has successfully administered wilderness, trails and recreation programs by working with county board members, commissioners, various user groups and other state and federal agencies. ?I am very excited about this opportunity,? said Dunkelberger. ?I?m looking forward to working with the BLM employees and communities on the many collaborative resource stewardships already in place in Bishop.? His education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in recreation and park administration from Washington State University and graduate studies in recreation management and environmental education from the University of Idaho. He has received various awards and citations and has completed numerous USDA Forest Service training courses and certification requirements. Dunkelberger, his wife Deborah and son Liam are moving from Winter Park, Colorado in October. He reports for work at his new job on October 20, 2002. -BLM-
