The management plan presents four alternatives for managing and protecting the natural resources in the Cache Creek Natural Area. It proposes various opportunities for public access and recreation in the area that covers nearly 80,000 acres. Public input has been extensive in development of the management plan, according to Gregg Mangan, BLM's Cache Creek Natural Area manager. Management issues were identified in public meetings. Later, an 11-member public review team, representing a broad array of interest groups, worked closely with the BLM in development of the draft plan and alternatives. The management area's oak woodlands, rolling hills and stream corridors provide habitat for a diverse wildlife population including deer, elk and wintering bald eagles. Visitors use the area for a variety of recreation pursuits including hiking, hunting and rafting. -BLM- Ukiah Field Office 2550 North State
