FALL HIKING SCHEDULE FOR HEADWATERS Guided hikes into the Headwaters Forest
Reserve and the historic Falk town site will continue into the autumn months,
the Bureau of Land Management has announced. BLM park rangers will lead outings into
the southern portion of the reserve on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 15,
or until heavy rains begin. Those
interested must make a reservation for a specific day by calling the BLM?s Arcata Field Office at (707) 825-2300. Tours into Falk, the site of a historic
mill town on the north end of the reserve, will be offered on Saturdays, Oct.
19 and Oct. 26. Participants should meet
at 10 a.m. at the Headwaters parking lot.
To get there, take Highway 101 to the Elk River Road exit south of Eureka. Follow Elk River Road six miles, staying to
the right at the two forks. The road
ends at the parking area.
Reservations are not required for
