BLM ANNOUNCES FALL HIKING SCHEDULE FOR HEADWATERS

Guided hikes into the Headwaters Forest Reserve and the historic Falk town site will continue into the autumn months, the Bureau of Land Management has announced.

BLM park rangers will lead outings into the southern portion of the reserve on Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 15, or until heavy rains begin.  Those interested must make a reservation for a specific day by calling the BLM?s Arcata Field Office at (707) 825-2300.

Tours into Falk, the site of a historic mill town on the north end of the reserve, will be offered on Saturdays, Oct. 19 and Oct. 26.  Participants should meet at 10 a.m. at the Headwaters parking lot.  To get there, take Highway 101 to the Elk River Road exit south of Eureka.  Follow Elk River Road six miles, staying to the right at the two forks.  The road ends at the parking area.  Reservations  are not required for these Falk hikes.
