Assignment Editor:    America?s wild horse and burros need your help!  In addition to routine gathers to control overpopulation to maintain healthy rangelands for remaining wild horses, burros, wildlife, and permitted livestock, the BLM conducted many emergency gathers to save as many animals as possible because severe drought and wildfires have destroyed thousands of acres of wild horse and burro habitat.  The adoption program is the BLM?s only means to find these animals a good home in the private sector, and there are many people with the skills and compassion that will give one of these animals a good home.  Would you please run the attached news release as soon as possible to help us notify the public of our event and give potential adopters sufficient time to prepare adequate facilities or make arrangements to stable the animals.
