BLM Oil & Gas Lease Sale
A sale of oil and gas leases on federal lands will be held in Bakersfield on Thursday, December 6th. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will accept competitive bids on 39 parcels in four central California counties totaling about 23,000 acres. The parcels are in Kern, Kings, Fresno, and Tulare counties.
The parcels will be offered to the highest acceptable bidder. The minimum acceptable bid is $2.00 per acre, with leases issued for a primary term of 10 years. Parcels not receiving bids at the competitive sale will be available for two years beginning December 7th for noncompetitive bids for leasing.
The lease sale will begin with oral bidding at 9:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Select Convention Center Hotel at 801 Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield. The sale room will open at 8:00 a.m. for registration. All bidders must register and obtain a number to be eligible to bid.
A detailed notice of the lease sale containing the parcel descriptions, acreage, lease terms and conditions, oral bidding procedures and requirements, and other sale information may be purchased for $5.00 from the BLM's California State Office in Sacramento and the Bakersfield Field Office.
