BLM PLANS PRESCRIBED FIRE NEAR POPCORN CAVE

Crews from the Bureau of Land Management will conduct a prescribed fire to reduce fuels and improve wildlife habitat near Popcorn Cave, about 10 miles south of Pitville.

The fire will be ignited on a day during October when conditions including temperatures, winds, relative humidity and other factors are within the burn prescription.

Fire engines and ground crews will be used to keep the fire within the 70-acre project boundary.  Public land visitors should stay out of the area when the fire project is underway.

For more information, contact the BLM's Alturas Field Office at (530) 233-4666.
