Public Meeting Scheduled to Review Coachella Valley Routes of Travel Inventory
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has scheduled a meeting to provide the public an opportunity to review and comment on the inventory of routes of travel network on public lands throughout the Coachella Valley.
The meeting will be held October 25, 2001, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the BLM Palm Springs Field Office, located at 690 West Garnet, North Palm Springs, CA 92258.
Motorized-vehicle routes (excluding major roads) were inventoried by BLM in preparation of the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan and California Desert Conservation Area Plan Amendment (CVMSHCP/CDCA Plan Amendment). Through this planning process, inventoried routes will be designated as either open, limited or closed according to BLM/regulatory criteria.
Maps of the inventoried routes will be available for review (after October 25th) at the following locations:
- BLM Palm Springs Field Office, 690 W. Garnet Ave., North Palm Springs CA, (760) 251-4800;
- BLM District Office, 6221 Box Springs Blvd., Riverside, CA, (909) 697-5200;
- Palm Desert Public Library, 73300 Fred Waring Dr., Palm Desert, CA, (760) 346-6552;
- Palm Springs Public Library, 300 S. Sunrise Way, Palm Springs CA, (760) 322-7323.
BLM also will present the criteria established to identify the proposed route designations. Comments regarding the accuracy and completeness of inventoried routes will be accepted until close of the public comment period for the draft CDCA Plan Amendment and Environmental Impact Statement, anticipated in early 2002.
Comments should be submitted to the Bureau of Land Management, Palm Springs-South Coast Field Office, Attn: Connell Dunning or Jim Foote, Post Office Box 1260, North Palm Springs, CA 92258-1260.
For more information contact Connell Dunning or Jim Foote at (760) 251-4800, or by e-mail at cdunning@ca.blm.gov or jfoote@ca.blm.gov, respectively.
