Generally, these data are intented for small scale (1:24,000 and smaller) natural resource management and planning applications. It is strongly recommended that these data be aquired directly from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and not indirectly through some other source which may have changed the data. It is also strongly recommended that careful attention be paid to the content of the metadata file associated with these data. Users are cautioned that digitial enlargement of these data to scales larger than that at which they where originally mapped can cause misinterpretation. Users are further cautioned that these data and interpretations derived from them do not eliminate the need for onsite survey and evaluation of specific sites for intensive uses.
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management should be cited as the data source in any products derived from these data.

Area, perimeter, ownpcablm#, and ownpcablm-id are system generated items
whose attributes have no meaning to the spatial features themselves.
Agency is the administrative agency for the land parcel and in this data set has only a value of BLM, because this coverage contains only BLM administered lands. Records with a blank, or no value, entry in the Agency item are "holes" or "islands" of other ownership within the BLM lands. These are often referred to by lands people as inholdings.
Acquistion_date contains the date of transfer of title if the land was acquired by the BLM as opposed to being within the original and historical public domain.
Database_date is the date the parcel was added to the GIS ownership coverage.
SN_prefix is a land records data base state prefix assigned to every serial number recorded in that data base. In the case of BLM lands in California, this will always have the value CACA.
SN_id is the main portion of the serial number, and is a sequential number composed of digits, assigned during the entry of the record in the data base.
SN_suffix is a two character, character field added to the end of the record, and completes the record.
Putting the SN prefix, id, and suffix together creates a complete lands record which may be used to find additional information regarding the parcel in BLM's case recordation data base.
