Observation Opportunities

When can I visit?

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is offering the public an opportunity to observe the gather beginning Wednesday, June 6, until the conclusion of the gather.  Keep in mind that gather activities can change quickly.  The BLM website will be updated regularly.  For the latest information, please check this website. For general information about the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Program, call 1-866-4MUSTANGS (468-7826).

What are the procedures?

The BLM is committed to providing as much public access to the gather sites as possible, however, the Cibola-Trigo Herd Management Area is rugged and remote, and public safety is our first priority.  BLM staff will be available to escort the public and media into designated observation areas. Those wishing to participate must have a four-wheel drive or high-clearance vehicle and meet at Fisher’s Landing Grocery Store parking lot, no later than 6:30 a.m.  The address is: 11176 N. Fishers Landing Road, Yuma, Arizona.  What to Know Before You Go

During the latter part of the gather, the meeting place to observe the gather will be Wheelie’s 76 Gas Station and General Store in Palo Verde, California. The address is: 73 Main Street, Highway 78, Palo Verde, California. What to Know Before You Go

The temporary holding facilities for the wild burros during the Cibola-Trigo Wild Burro Gather will be open to the public each day during the gather from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Directions to the holding facilities are available.

Additional details for media access are provided in this fact sheet.
