In 1972, President Nixon signed Executive Order 11644 which mandated the designation of routes as either open, closed, or limited on all Public Lands. Route designation is accomplished through a Travel Management Plan (TMP).
The BLM Lake Havasu Field Office (LHFO) began its Travel Management Plan (TMP) in 2006. When completed, the TMP will include six planning areas to encompass more than 1.3 million acres of BLM-administered public land managed by LHFO.
The first phase designates routes in the Bullhead area, which is in the northern-most part of LHFO, located along the Colorado River near Bullhead City, Arizona, and adjacent to lands in California. The Bullhead TMP/EA has been completed and implementation is now in progress, as staff and funding permits.
The BLM welcomes and encourages you to review and comment on the information for each of the six planning areas of the Travel Management Plan. The Comment Form (provided on the right) may be completed and submitted electronically, or printed and mailed to the email or office addresses on the form.
Next Step for the TMP: BLM plans to initiate public meetings on the Havasu TMP area (public land closer to Lake Havasu City in the summer of 2009. More information will be available before public meetings begin.
