La Posa TMP
Yuma Field Office

The comment period relating to maps and route designations for BLM Yuma Field Office's La Posa Travel Management Plan started February 7 and was extended through April 5, 2012. The public is encouraged to review the four alternatives of potential route designations (open/limited/closed) for over 1,700 inventoried roads, trails, drivable desert washes, and other linear features. The four different alternatives are briefly described as follows:

  • Alternative A, the No Action Alternative, would not establish a designated route network and would continue existing travel management policies.
  • Alternative B, the Access Alternative, proposes to establish a designated route network that maximizes motorized and non-motorized access across public lands.
  • Alternative C, the Proposed Alternative, proposes to establish a designated route network that is in between Alternatives B and D.
  • Alternative D, the Preservation Alternative, proposes to establish a designated route network that maximizes the protection of natural, cultural, and scenic resource values of the public lands.

Maps are available to view and download on the Maps & Documents page. Maps will also be available to view throughout the 30-day public comment period at the following locations:

  • Quartzsite Town Hall
    465 N. Plymouth Ave
    Quartzsite, AZ 85346

For comments relating to individual routes, the comment form must include the LP# associated with the route of concern (LP#’s can be found on the sub-section maps). Comments may be submitted via mail, email, or dropped off at the Yuma Field Office. You can download the comment form below. Please contact the Yuma Field Office to receive electronic copies (CD) of the sub-section maps.

After the completion of the 30-day public comment period, BLM will review and analyze all public comments to determine if changes need to be made. BLM will develop the La Posa Travel Management Plan and Environmental Assessment (EA) based on staff and public comments.
