Vermilion Cliffs National Monument Soap Creek Trail |

Description This primitive trail follows Soap Creek Canyon to the Colorado River in Marble Canyon. It is a difficult but popular hike among day hikers and fisherman due to the natural scenery and access to the Colorado River. This trail is 2.2 miles long. The best season of use is during the spring and fall. Location The trail is located in northern Arizona in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. Access The trailhead is located off Highway 89A, about eight miles west of Marble Canyon. Visitor Activities Hiking and fishing. Permits, Fees, Limitations Accessibility A four-wheel drive vehicle is not needed to access the site. Open year-round. Avoid this hike during summer months or lightning storms. Loose rock and sand might make climbing hazardous. There are no facilities or features that are wheelchair accessible. Camping and Lodging Dispersed camping is available within Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and House Rock Valley on Arizona Strip Field Office Lands. The closest campgrounds are Stateline Campground, Arizona, Lee’s Ferry, AZ and the Kaibab National Forest. Lodging is available in the Lee’s Ferry area, Page, AZ and Kanab, UT. Food and Supplies The nearest source of food and supplies is Lee’s Ferry Lodge, Fredonia, or Page, AZ. First Aid No first aid is available in the immediate area. The nearest reliable first aid is at Lee’s Ferry (National Park Service). The nearest hospital is in Page, AZ, 45 miles away.
