Description:
The Monolith Garden Trail is open to hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders and trail runners and is not universally-accessible. This series of loop trails, comprising about 7 miles in length, meanders through Mohave Desert vegetation and interesting volcanic rock formations. No water and little shade are available along the route. Monolith Garden Trail connects with the Camp Beale Loop Trail (managed by the City of Kingman).
Directions:
Monolith Garden Trail is located 1 mile west of Kingman, Arizona in the Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area. Monolith Garden Trail can be accessed at 3 locations: (See Trail Map)
- Metwell Drive Trailhead - Turn west on Metwell Drive off of U.S. Highway 93, about 1/2 mile north of the I-40 interchange in Kingman, AZ. A Chevron gas station is on the corner. Drive 0.1 miles west on Metwell Drive to a right turn on a dirt road. The trailhead is located 50 yards up this road.
- Coyote Pass Trailhead - Located 2 miles north of downtown Kingman, AZ on U.S. Highway 93. The trailhead can only be accessed from the southbound lane of the highway. Look for a large parking area near the top of Coyote Pass, where a restroom facility can be seen. This trailhead is recommended for horse trailers and/or large numbers of vehicles.
- Camp Beale Loop Traihead - This trailhead, managed by the City of Kingman, can be accessed by turning east on Fort Beale Drive off of U.S. Highway 93, about 1/2 mile north of the I-40 interchange in Kingman, AZ. Drive 1.2 miles north and east on Fort Beale Drive to a paved road on your left marked 'Camp Beale loop Trail'. Follow this road up the hill for a short distance to trailhead parking.
Visitor Activities:
Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and trail running. No motorized uses are permitted.
Permits, Fees and Limitation:
No permits or fees are required. Camping is not permitted at the trailhead, but is fine anywhere else along the trail. No hunting is permitted within ¼-mile of the trailhead. No drinking water is available along the trail and shade is very scarce.
Accessibility:
Three trailhead locations immediately adjacent to the Kingman City limits make this trail conveniently accessible to all users traveling in any type of vehicle. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is not needed to access the trailhead. The trail is not wheel chair accessible.
Camping and Lodging:
Primitive camping without fees is available on public lands year-round. Motel lodging is abundant in Kingman, AZ.
Food and Supplies
There are many large grocery stores and businesses supplying outdoor recreation needs in nearby Kingman.

The nearest hospitals are in Kingman, AZ (approximately 10 miles southeast of the trailhead) and in Bullhead City, AZ (approximately 30 miles west of the trail head). In the event of a medical or law enforcement emergency people may call 911 or the Mohave County Sheriff’s Department 928-753-2141.
Additional Information
The trail is easy to moderately difficult for hikers and difficult for all users.
The best season to visit the area is September through June, road conditions permitting.
The trail ranges in elevation from 3,409 to 3,700 feet. The trailhead begins at 3,409 5o 3,700 feet.
