Law Enforcement &
Resource Protection

Ranger in the Sonoran Desert National MonumentBLM has its own complement of Federal law enforcement officers sworn to protect its employees, the resources that the BLM manages, and members of the public using those resources. BLM officers are either rangers or special agents.

Rangers are highly visible uniformed officers who drive clearly marked patrol vehicles, which serve as a deterrent to criminal activity. Rangers also conduct criminal investigations and make arrests.

Special agents also enforce Federal laws and regulations and conduct criminal investigations.

Both rangers and special agents work closely with law enforcement officers and resource management officers from other agencies. Those agencies include U.S. Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Fish & Wildlife Service, the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest Service, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and county sheriff’s offices.

Serious Incident Reports filed by BLM Arizona officers are also available on this site.
