A Record of Decision (ROD) for the Mohave Wind County Wind Farm Project was signed on June 28, 2013. The ROD approves use of 35,329 acres of BLM-managed land and 2,781 acres of Reclamation-managed land for development of a wind farm project.

BP Wind Energy North America, Inc., would construct up to 243 wind turbines on Federal lands located in northwestern Arizona, about 40 miles northwest of Kingman. It would provide up to 500 megawatts of power to the power grid – enough to power up to 175,000 houses.

The company agreed to implement significant mitigation to minimize impacts to wildlife and other resources, including reducing the project footprint by about 20 percent from their original proposal. The smaller footprint will protect golden eagle habitat and reduce visual and noise impacts to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and nearby private land. If you have questions contact:
