Wickenburg Community Trails Master Plan in Final Stages
Public to Review Proposal

Wickenburg, Ariz.  The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) invites residents to attend two public meetings.  The BLM is currently planning two projects in the Wickenburg area to ensure the management of natural and cultural resources and to make sure that existing and future recreation sites are well connected to Wickenburg’s trail system, as a recreation hub. The need for two meetings allows the public’s time commitment to stay minimal while maximizing the focus and feedback on each planning effort.

The first meeting will be held on Monday, June 27, where BLM agency officials and BLM’s contractor, Southwestern Environmental Consultants, Inc. will summarize the public input received to date and present the preferred alternative for trail systems and staging areas. The meeting will be held at the Wickenburg Community Center at 160 Valentine Road from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

To improve recreational opportunities and facilities in the greater Wickenburg area, the BLM is now closer to finalizing its Wickenburg Community Trails Master Plan. Once approved, this Plan would enable the designation of roads and trails on public lands.

To comment or for more information on the Trails Plan, contact Project Manager Krista Cline at (928) 282-7787 x 2017, email her at; or visit at:  Comments are due by Monday, July 11, 2011.

The BLM is also currently working with the Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department to develop a Master Plan for the Vulture Mountains.  This plan will allow both agencies to cooperatively manage the area while improving recreation opportunities and facilities.

The second meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 28, where Maricopa County Parks and Recreation will discuss in detail the proposed facilities for the Vulture Mountain area. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 28, also at the Wickenburg Community Center from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
