Fire Restrictions Lifted for Colorado River District BLM and Hualapai Mountain Park |
||||||
|
On Thursday, September 10, at 6:00 a.m., fire restrictions will be lifted for Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands administered by the Colorado River District and the Mohave County Hualapai Mountain Park. This includes all public lands in the Lake Havasu, Yuma, and Kingman Field Offices which cover Mohave, Yavapai, Yuma, La Paz, Imperial, and Riverside Counties. Sufficient moisture has been received throughout these areas and fire restrictions are no longer necessary. There have been some small lightning fires in the Kingman area in the past few weeks but the current levels of moisture and humidity have been high enough to keep the fires small. The BLM manages more land - 253 million acres - than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. The Bureau accomplishes this by managing such activities as outdoor recreation, livestock grazing, mineral development, and energy production, and by conserving natural, historical, cultural, and other resources on public lands. |
