The Phoenix District Office (PDO) is developing a programmatic environmental assessment (EA) to analyze integrated vegetation treatments that target invasive weed species occurring within the district. An integrated vegetation management program utilizes fire, mechanical and manual methods, biological treatments, and herbicides; and, it recognizes the effectiveness of a multi-management approach for an environmentally sound weed program. The EA will tier to the 2007 Record of Decision Vegetation Treatments Using Herbicides on Bureau of Land Management Lands in 17 Western States Programmatic EIS. It will focus on the impacts of methods and options for specific multi-management proposals and site-specific impacts of implementing four weed treatments proposals in the district.
