Table Mesa Recreation Area Management Plan

The Table Mesa Recreation Area Draft Plan will be presented to the public at 6:00 p.m. on June 30, 2009, at the Deer Valley Community Center, 2001 W. Wahalla Lane, Phoenix, Arizona.  This map will be presented (pdf, 3 M, 36 x 48 inches) at the meeting.  The BLM Policy on Target Shooting Sites will also be available at the meeting.

The Bureau of Land Management is in the process of working with stakeholders and agencies in an effort to develop a functional, feasible recreation plan for the Table Mesa Road area.  In effect, this plan is the next step following the recently developed Resource Management Plan (RMP).

Want to get involved with the recently formed Table Mesa Friends Group?

How did we get here?

  • BLM identified the Planning Area. 
  • Public Meetings were held in November 2008 for initial public input.
  • BLM presented an initial conceptual plan in January 2009, for public comment and to solicit additional proposals for the area.  Information was later provided regarding the basis for any proposed shooting area or trail closures.
  • Additional public meetings were held in January and February 2009, to receive public proposals.
  • BLM developed a process timeline for the plan which was provided to the public in late February 2009.
  • Based on the BLM proposed plan and public proposals, concepts are being developed and should be available soon.  This information is being used to develop the area plan still in progress.  The timeline will be adjusted as needed for public review and comment.  All relevant documents developed to date are available on the Maps & Documentation page.
