You can print a small map of the area (pdf) that shows the main trailheads/access points and road access.

the wave If you are successful in obtaining a permit for Coyote Buttes North, a map and detailed directions to the "Wave" will be mailed along with your permit.

There is one commercial guidebook available from private and non-profit sources that provides hiking and backpacking information on the area; Hiking and Exploring the Paria River, 4th Edition, by Michael R. Kelsey. As a government agency, the BLM cannot recommend one retail outlet over another.

More detailed maps will provide better navigational capabilities. U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5' topographic maps which cover Paria Canyon and Buckskin Gulch are available from local map stores, some sporting good stores, and the USGS at www.usgs.gov or USGS, Federal Center, Building 41, Denver, CO 80225.
