Abstract:
Digitized vector data of Herd Areas (HAs) and Herd Management Areas (HMAs) managed under the Lake Havasu Field Office Resource Managment Plan 2007 in Arizona and California. These areas are currently administered by adjacent field offices. Additional HAs and HMAs overlap the Lake Havasu Field Office, but are managed under different plans. This data is a union of the Herd Areas (burrohalhfo.shp) and the Herd Management Areas (whbhmaAlt4.shp).
This data represents the areas where wild burros ranged prior to the passage of the Wild Horse & Burro Act of 1971 (HAs), along with data representing locations where wild burros are managed in designated areas (HMAs). |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

For regional analysis and display at 1:100,000. This dataset was prepared/acquired for use in the Lake Havasu Field Office Resource Management Plan process.
Dataset locally know as whbha_hma_LHFO.shp. This dataset and other datasets in the Lake Havasu Field Office Geographic Information Database represent data for the BLM Lake Havasu Field Office.

This data should be used in conjunction with the Lake Havasu Field Office RMP of 2007. This data should not be used at a scale larger than 1:100,000. The data and corresponding attributes are only as accurate as the source maps from which they were obtained, and may vary depending on the data and method of acquisition. This data is suitable for regional planning, management decision support at intermediate scales (i.e. 1:100,000 or smaller), and cartographic purposes. The data is not suitable for analysis at scales larger than 1:100,000. If the Receiving Agency (RA) has modified the data in any way, they are obligated to describe the types of modifications they have performed on hardcopy maps utilizing the data. RA specifically agrees not to misrepresent LHFO datasets or to imply that any changes made were approved by BLM LHFO. No warranty is made by the BLM for use of the data for purposes not intended by BLM. This information may be updated without notification.

Attribute accuracy is tested by manually comparing hard copy plots of the digital data with source materials or by interactively querying and verifying on the screen.
The data has been checked to make sure that all intended polygons are closed, that there are no unintended undershoots, overshoots or dangles and that there is only only label point per polygon. This does not preclude the presence of one or more of these errors.
The dataset is considered complete for wild burro HAs and HMAs managed by the Lake Havasu Field Office RMP 2007.
Approximately + or - 200 feet. Test by visual comparison of hard copy check plots against source material and/ or verfying the location of the data on screen relative to other data layers in the same geographic area.
None
Herd Areas (burrohalhfo.shp) and Herd Management Areas (whbhmaAlt4.shp) were unioned to create whbha_hma_LHFO.shp. Slivers were eliminated. The attribute table was revised to meet the HA/Herd Management Area Geospatial Data Standards (2001). Metadata was updated.
