Abstract:
GIS dataset of the developed recreation sites (polygons) identified in the Lake Havasu Field Office RMP 2007. This dataset is limited to the Colorado River area where most of the recreation sites are located. The dataset includes BLM campgrounds and day use areas, along with concession leases. Additional recreation sites are in the RecreationSites_point.shp dataset. These recreation areas are on BLM lands in Arizona and California within the Lake Havasu Field Office. |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

For regional analysis and display at 1:24,000. This dataset was prepared to support decisions in the Lake Havasu Field Office Resource Management Plan.
Dataset locally known as RecreationSites_polygon.shp. This dataset and other datasets in the Lake Havasu Field Office Geographic Information Database represent data for the BLM Lake Havasu Field Office.
publication date
This data should be used in conjunction with the Lake Havasu Field Office RMP of 2007. This data should not be used at a scale larger than 1:24,000. The data and corresponding attributes are only as accurate as the source maps from which they were obtained, and may vary depending on the data and method of acquisition. This data is suitable for regional planning, management decision support at intermediate scales (i.e. 1:24,000 or smaller), and cartographic purposes. The data is not suitable for analysis at scales larger than 1:24,000. If the Receiving Agency (RA) has modified the data in any way, they are obligated to describe the types of modifications they have performed on hardcopy maps utilizing the data. RA specifically agrees not to misrepresent LHFO datasets or to imply that any changes made were approved by BLM LHFO. No warranty is made by the BLM for use of the data for purposes not intended by BLM. This information may be updated without notification.

Feature attributes were taken from source material. Code assignments are believed to be representative of the source document.
Data was reviewed for correct topological structure. Duplicate lines have been removed.
This dataset is limited to the Colorado River area. Dataset is considered complete for the polygons for developed recreation areas in the LHFO RMP 2007. Additional recreation sites are in the RecreationSites_point.shp dataset.
Overall horizontal accuracy for this data is not greater than national mapping accuracy standards (NMAS) for USGS source maps. Snapping and coordinate shift tolerances were maintained at 0.01 meters or less through editing. Horizontal positional accuracy for the digital data set was tested by visual comparison of the source data with hard copy verification plots.
A digitizing tablet was used to digitize the data from existing sources. GPS was used as needed for smaller areas. Separate coverages were created - rpa for permitted areas and rca for BLM managed areas. The original data was created in MOSS and later exported to ArcInfo Workstation when BLM went from UNIX to Windows operating systems.

retired in May 2006.
rpa and rca were exported to shapefiles (rpa became recpermit.shp and rca became recblm.shp). The data was updated for the RMP effort.

Attribute tables were cleaned up to eliminate unnecessary fields. The data used for the RMP map was selected and exported. The two shapefiles were merged. Metadata was created.
Dataset reprojected first from Clarke 1866 UTM Zone 12 to NAD 1927 UTM Zone 12, then from NAD 1927 UTM Zone 12 to NAD 1983 UTM Zone 12 using NADCON. Metadata updated.
