Abstract:
GIS data used in the 2007 BLM Lake Havasu Field Office RMP (in Arizona) for Grazing Allotments open for grazing. Although these allotments are within the LHFO boundary, they are currently administered by adjacent field offices. Other allotments administered by adjacent field offices overlap the LHFO boundary, but are not specifically addressed in the LHFO RMP 2007. This dataset is in Arizona, primarily in Mohave and La Paz counties. |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.

Displays allotments open for grazing in the Lake Havasu Field Office RMP 2007. For regional analysis and display at 1:24,000. This dataset was prepared/acquired for use in the Lake Havasu Field Office Resource Management Plan process.
Data set locally know as LHFO_allot_poly.shp. This dataset and other datasets in the Lake Havasu Field Office Geographic Information Database represent data for the BLM Lake Havasu Field Office.
publication date
Should only be used in coordination with the Lake Havasu Field Office RMP of 2007. This data should not be used at a scale larger than 1:24,000. The data and corresponding attributes are only as accurate as the source maps from which they were obtained, and may vary depending on the data and method of acquisition. This data is suitable for regional planning, management decision support at intermediate scales (i.e. 1:24,000 or smaller), and cartographic purposes. The data is not suitable for analysis at scales larger than 1:24,000. If the Receiving Agency (RA) has modified the data in any way, they are obligated to describe the types of modifications they have performed on hardcopy maps utilizing the data. RA specifically agrees not to misrepresent LHFO datasets or to imply that any changes made were approved by BLM LHFO. No warranty is made by the BLM for use of the data for purposes not intended by BLM. This information may be updated without notification.

The allot_no field contains the allotment numbers used to implement the GABS computer program. GABS required 5 numbers, so in Arizona a 0 was added to the start of the number. The allot_name field contains the allotment name which is used in the allotment files and computer programs.
The allotment number is a standard number and the allotment name is a standard name included in allotment files and programs for a specifiic allotment.
Original data was clean coverage. Data was reviewed for correct topological structure. Duplicate lines have been removed.
The dataset is considered complete for grazing opportunities within allotments formerly managed by Lake Havasu Field Office and approved in the LHFO RMP 2007.
Accuracy based on tablet digitized boundaries from inventory maps (topographic maps from 1979-1980 inventory).
Estimate based on 24K map limits
Allotment boundaries, fencelines
A digitizing tablet was used to digitize the data primarily from SVIM Inventory topographic maps with a stable base overlay as needed. Where SVIM Inventory maps were not available, newer topographic maps were used.

Dataset was cleaned and polygons were built.
2610 Sweetwater Ave
Dataset exported to geodatabase for editing in ArcGIS. Boundary corrections were made based on gps of existing fencelines which matched maps in the existing files. The inital 0 was added to the allotment numbers.

Exported coverage from geodatabase.

Havasu Heights South was removed from LHFOallotsOpenAlt13.shp and saved as LHFOallotsOpenAlt4PA.shp

The dataset includes allotment boundaries within the Lake Havasu Field Office. The attributes include the allotment name and number associated with each specific allotment.
The allotment boundaries are shown as polygons. The fields are based on the grazing allotment standard. These values are found in the associated allotment files and computer programs such as the Rangeland Administration System (RAS) and the Rangeland Improvement Project System (RIPS).
