Abstract:
GIS data representing Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) designated in the 2007 BLM Lake Havasu Field Office RMP (in Arizona and California). |

Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.
GIS data representing Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) designated in the 2007 BLM Lake Havasu Field Office RMP (in Arizona and California).
For regional analysis and display at 1:24,000. This dataset was prepared/acquired for use in the Lake Havasu Field Office Resource Management Plan process.
Dataset locally known as ACEC_LHFO.shp. This dataset and other datasets in the Lake Havasu Field Office Geographic Information Database represent data for the BLM Lake Havasu Field Office.
publication date
This data should be used in conjunction with the Lake Havasu Field Office RMP of 2007. This data should not be used at a scale larger than 1:24,000. The data and corresponding attributes are only as accurate as the source maps from which they were obtained, and may vary depending on the data and method of acquisition. This data is suitable for regional planning, management decision support at intermediate scales (i.e. 1:24,000 or smaller), and cartographic purposes. The data is not suitable for analysis at scales larger than 1:24,000. If the Receiving Agency (RA) has modified the data in any way, they are obligated to describe the types of modifications they have performed on hardcopy maps utilizing the data. RA specifically agrees not to misrepresent LHFO datasets or to imply that any changes made were approved by BLM LHFO. No warranty is made by the BLM for use of the data for purposes not intended by BLM. This information may be updated without notification.

Feature attributes were taken from source material. Code assignments are believed to be representative of the source document.
Data was reviewed for correct topological structure. Duplicate lines have been removed.
Data is considered complete for the Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) approved in the LHFO RMP 2007.
Overall horizontal accuracy for this data is not greater than national mapping accuracy standards (NMAS) for USGS source maps. Snapping and coordinate shift tolerances were maintained at 0.01 meters or less through editing. Horizontal positional accuracy for the digital data set was tested by visual comparison of the source data with hard copy verification plots.
The proposed ACECs were developed separately - Three Rivers Riparian ACEC was based on selection from azacec.shp. The data was clipped to Lake Havasu Field Office boundary, then COE and non-BLM lands were erased from the existing ACEC along with wilderness. Crossman Peak was based on Crossman Peak Natural Scenic Area in acec_p. In order to include all values of concern, the data was modified to incorporate some of the Wilderness Coalition proposed data and trans_l and trails_l4.shp were used to offset the boundary. Swansea was based on Swansea data (previous withdrawal area). The data was screen digitized to expand the boundary to include the values of concern and exclude wilderness. Bullhead Bajada was screen digitized to incorporate part of a previously proposed Western Bajada ACEC (Kingman RMP) from acec_p and to add additional values of concern. Beale Slough was based on gps data of the riparian area and screen digitized to include additional values of concern.

ThreeRiversAlt5.shp, swanseaalt5b.shp, CrossmanPeakAlt5.shp, BealeSlough5.shp, and BadajaACEC5b.shp were merged to create ACEC_ALL_Alt5.

For the Proposed Plan, ACEC_ALL_Alt5.shp was modified to erase wilderness from the ACEC boundaries. This only affected Beal Slough.
