Abstract:
BLM RDEP FEIS DATA. Restoration Design Energy Project. Bureau of Land Management, Arizona State Office, in conjunction with Environmental Management and Planning Solutions, Incorporated (EMPSi). GIS data created by Marcia Rickey, EMPSi, 303-447-7160, in conjunction with Kathy Pedrick, BLM Project Manager, David Batts, EMPSi, and Lane Cowger 602-417-9612, BLM Assistant Project Manager, and Jim Kenna, State Director.
Proposed Agua Caliente Solar Energy Zone (SEZ). This area is proposed for a Solar Energy Zone, a land use allocation. No BLM solar project has been proposed yet. This area is being analyzed within the RDEP alternatives.
This GIS dataset shows the proposed AC SEZ alternatives.
Based on public comments on the Draft EIS, along with additional information from AGFD and a Class II cultural survey (archaeological sample survey) of the proposed SEZ, the BLM has revised the proposed SEZ boundary to address wildlife habitat and migration, lands with wilderness characteristics, cultural resources, and riparian areas. The revised boundary includes being 500 m away on either side of the major washes to preserve wildlife corridors; removes the northern portion of the largest SEZ footprint to maintain the area for potential tortoise migration between the Palomas Mountains and Baragan Mountain; and avoids most known archaeological sites and most lands with wilderness characteristics not managed to protect those characteristics under current resource management plans.
The Final EIS includes alternatives that contain either the large, medium, or small SEZ footprint as analyzed in the Draft EIS. Alternative 6 in the Final EIS includes the revised proposed SEZ footprint. |
