Please note: The events listed below are either opportunities for INCPA credit that are available on an ongoing basis or individual events such as workshops that are regularly offered by INCPA partner organizations. There are no specific dates. For specific information, please contact the organizations listed.

This is by no means a complete list of community opportunities available for INCPA credit. The opportunities listed here are, for the most part, those offered by the INCPA partners. There may be additional training opportunities within the larger community. It is up to participants in this program to fulfill category components outlined in the Certification Standards. Remember to contact the INCPA partner organizations regularly, and continue to consult local newspapers, community calendars and bulletin boards, local organizations' newsletters and web sites, and university course listings.

 IV. Field Techniques and Experience

Required Workshop - Fieldwork Methods

National Audubon Society
UAF Cooperative Extension Service 

Title: Fieldwork Methods Workshop (2 part class) 

The workshop includes an introduction to the Scientific Method including topics such as nomenclature, controls, sampling, and scale. It includes discussions of different scientific fields and approaches using ecology as a model. The fieldwork session will feature transects and examples of other field techniques.

A light snack will be provided Wednesday evening - you bring lunch and something to drink on Sat. For the outdoor session on Saturday - bring your own snacks and water and dress appropriately to be outside rain or shine (warm jacket, rain pants, hat, gloves, and sturdy boots).

We need 8 enrollees minimum to make it worth it - please enroll early.Registration is required.
