Adult and Family Programs-where everybody has fun learning

Science-in-a-Backpack

The Science-in-a-Backpack program offers individuals or families and other interested small groups (4-6 people max) the opportunity to learn basic field techniques with ready-made supplies and activities.

Each backpack includes directions and all the equipment you need. You don’t need any prior experience to use the packs. And all packs are available to use free of charge.
  • Measure physical characteristics of Campbell Creek and examine its invertebrate residents using the Water Quality Pack.
  • Search for and investigate insects and their relatives with the Invertebrate Pack.
  • Look for signs of animals with the Animal Tracking and Evidence Pack.

Science-in-a-Backpack packs can be checked out for up to a week at a time and must be reserved at least three days ahead of time by calling (907) 267-1247.
