Ring of Fire RMP Amendment/Supplemental EIS

Cover of Ring of Fire Proposed RMP/Final EISThe BLM Anchorage Field Office published a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register on March 26, 2009, to announce public scoping for the Ring of Fire Resource Management Plan Amendment and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.

The amendment will consider whether portions of the Haines planning block meet the requirements for designation as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) and whether to retain the Haines Block Special Recreation Management Area designation.

The Ring of Fire Amendment will be developed through an open public process using input from those interested in BLM-administered public lands in the Haines block.

The Scoping Report is now available. This report addresses issues identified during the 90-day scoping period, which was initiated by a Notice of Intent on March 26, 2009 and ended on June 24, 2009.  The BLM held public scoping meetings in Haines, Skagway and Anchorage to identify relevant issues.

For more information about the Ring of Fire amendment, contact the BLM at (907) 267-1246 or (800) 478-1263, or via e-mail at ak_rof_amend@blm.gov.
