Ring of Fire RMP Amendment/Supplemental EIS

Cover of Ring of Fire Proposed RMP/Final EISThe BLM Anchorage Field Office published a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register on March 26, 2009, to announce public scoping for the Ring of Fire Resource Management Plan Amendment and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement.

The amendment will consider whether portions of the Haines planning block meet the requirements for designation as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) and whether to retain the Haines Block Special Recreation Management Area designation.

The March 26, 2009, Notice of Intent initiated a 90-day public scoping period for BLM-administered lands in the Haines block. The public is invited to provide information about the resources of the Haines block and the importance of these resources under BLM ACEC designation criteria. The BLM will hold public scoping meetings in Haines, Skagway, and Anchorage, to identify relevant issues that will influence the scope of the environmental analysis and Supplemental EIS alternatives. Everyone is invited to attend any of these public scoping meetings.
