Birch Creek Photo 2

View of river and caneoist from a hill.

The upper section of Birch Creek is a meandering,
gravel-based river typical of Interior Alaska. This region
was not glaciated during the last ice ages, so Birch
Creek has clear water, rather than the cloudy, brown
water found in rivers where glacial silt is prevalent in
sediments.
