The BLM’s primary role in a gas pipeline project will be to participate in an environmental analysis and grant a right-of-way across federal land in Alaska. The BLM has received applications for two pipeline rights-of-way. One is from Denali—The Alaska Gas Pipeline for a pipeline from the North Slope to a point on the Canadian border near the Alaska Highway; the other is from the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority for its proposed pipeline between Cook Inlet and Fairbanks via the Richardson Highway communities of Glennallen and Delta Junction. The BLM is also responding to requests from TransCanada for permission to conduct ground investigations along a pipeline route it is considering.
The BLM's Point of Contact in Alaska is Ron Dunton, Natural Gas Pipeline Project Coordinator.
