Twitter Bird IconWhat is Twitter?

Twitter is a website, which offers a social networking and micro-blogging service, enabling its users to send and read messages called tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the user's profile page. Very similar to texting on your phone or very short emails. Tweets are publicly visible by default, however senders can restrict message delivery to their friends list. Users may subscribe to other users' tweets—this is known as following and subscribers are known as followers or tweeps. For more information about Twitter or to sign-up for a free Twitter account, please visit: www.twitter.com.
