BLM-WISE Youth Hikes

The BLM Glennallen Field Office and Wrangell Institute for Science and Environment (WISE) have partnered to conduct hikes for youth. Each hike includes basic outdoor skill lessons and promotes a healthy active lifestyle; a love for the outdoors; and a sense of stewardship toward the land and resources.

Day hikes and overnight hikes take place weekdays in June, July, and August. For a youth summer hike schedule or to register your child for a hike, contact the Wrangell Institute for Science and Environment at 907-822-3575 or the BLM Glennallen Field Office at 907-822-3217. Transportation is available for youth that need a ride on a first come, first served basis.

Thompson Pass (all ages)
Mud Volcanoes (all ages)
Paxson Overnight Camp (Ages 6 and up or with a parent)
Bluberry Picking on Denali Highway (all ages)
Geocache with State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources at Rusty Lake (all ages)
Upper Tangle Lakes (ages 13 and up)
Tonsina Bluff (all ages)
Kenny Lake School Trail (all ages)
Skookum Trail (ages 13 and up)
