Attention Federal Subsistence Hunters:
The Unit 13 Federal subsistence moose and caribou season opens August 1, 2016. The BLM Glennallen Field Office will begin issuing Unit 13 Federal Subsistence Hunting permits to qualified residents at the BLM Glennallen Field Office, Mile 186. 5 Glenn Highway, beginning Monday, July 25. The office is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m daily, excluding federal holidays. Applicants need to bring a State of Alaska Resident Hunting License, a State of Alaska Driver’s License or photo ID, and a third proof of rural residency that shows a physical address, such as a voters registration card, phone or electric bill.
Hunt reports can also be mailed or hand delivered. The BLM Glennallen Field Office is located at Mile 186.5 of the Glenn Highway. A drop box is available in the front office and is open 24 hours per day for your convenience. Failure to return the hunt report will result in you being ineligible to receive a Unit 13 Federal subsistence caribou permit for the following regulatory year, and may result in a fine. Please understand, even if you did not hunt or use your permit, you are still required to return your hunt report. Paxson Lake, up to ordinary high water, including its frozen surface during winter months, is under State jurisdiction and therefore is CLOSED to federal subsistence. Federal subsistence hunters may not take caribou that are standing on the frozen surface of Paxson Lake. See Map>>
