Ring of Fire RMP/EIS

Cover of Ring of Fire Proposed RMP/Final EISThe BLM Anchorage Field Office released the Ring of Fire Proposed Resource Management Plan and Final Environmental Impact Statement August 25, 2006. This document will provide management guidance for 1.3 million acres of BLM-administered public land in southeast and southcentral Alaska, Kodiak Island and the Aleutian Islands.

The Ring of Fire Proposed RMP/Final EIS proposes one Area of Critical Environmental Concern in the Neacola Mountains of Western Cook Inlet and two Special Recreation Management Areas in the Haines Block of southeast Alaska and the Knik River area of southcentral Alaska. The plan also recommends the revocation of all Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) (d)(1) withdrawals, and requires that any mineral exploration and development be guided by Required Operating Procedures and Stipulations.

There are several ways to view the Ring of Fire Proposed RMP/Final EIS. Click here to download the Ring of Fire Proposed RMP and Final EIS. Many files are large and may take sometime to download. Or you may request a CD of the document from the BLM Anchorage Field Office. A limited number of hard copies are available for pick up at the Field Office, but please help us save taxpayer dollars by viewing the three-volume document via the Internet or CD if possible.
